A new political system for the UK based on the idea of “the best man/woman for the job”

This is something I have been thinking about for the past couple of days, and while I know this can achieve a global audience, I know that this blog is one among millions of others. By this I mean if millions of people are all shouting at the same time, how are you supposed to hear an individual's voice?

Anyway the idea I thought of, it may have been thought of by others in the past, I'm not denying that it may have, I've never really looked personally.

Anyway the idea I have involves some drastic changes to political parties and how governments are formed, I'm not saying that "THIS IS THE WAY FORWARD" or "THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN NOW!"
All I'm saying is this is an idea, you can agree with it or disagree, I'm certain that like all other forms of politics it has its flaws.

First liquidate the party system completely, such that politicians stand alone A government can be formed by voting for individual positions within the government, example prime minister, secretary of defence, education etc

The public would vote for the candidate they believe is best suited to the individual job, based on their morals and also what the candidate promises. This means their job and actions are much more accountable for, they can vote to sack the person believed to be doing a bad job rather than the whole party

This I believe means a more democratic way to form governments for example a person may like how one political party would handle say education, but not how that party would handle the military or immigration. So the person may like how these aspects are handled by another party. So they would vote for the possible education minister of one party, and the possible secretary of defence from another. With this they can vote for their “ideal” political party by mix matching to form their “perfect” government

Applying this on a national scale, this could create a government for the people, made by them.

A pro of this is that the politicians doing their job are more accountable for their decisions rather than the party they would've previously belonged to.

An obvious con of all this is it could be viewed that this system is expensive to implement, and could be deemed confusing as there are many positions to vote for

I believe this system would allow people to vote for the “best” person for the job based on merit rather than “political party bias”

Sort of like buying a pizza and choosing your own toppings for it rather than picking one pre made from the menu.

Now I know this idea isn’t perfect, and maybe my knowledge of politics isn’t top notch, perhaps this idea would fail miserably if implemented, but right now that’s all it is, an idea.

If anyone reads this I would like to know their thoughts on this matter, please keep your comments constructive. I look forward to debating this; I'd rather not spend time in some sort of flame war.

Thank you for taking the time to read this :)
